Yesterday afternoon was amazing. After driving around Land's End in the suprising sunshine and playing with Oscar, the short-arsed dog at the Little Barn tea room, we were on our way back and spotted a barn owl. It swooped along the top of a hedge, uphill from where I was driving, right towards us. Then it disappeared behind the nearby hedge. T spotted it a little further up the road, I drove slowly up and we saw it flying around, really close up, for quite a while. Wow. I was speechless. It's so rare to see more than a glimpse of these birds (I've seen a couple in my car headlights on a night drive, but the sightings were more about not hitting them than being able to appeciate them). They're big birds! Really solid and clunky.
Honoured. Yeah, I felt honoured.
